Something new

Last week I went with a friend to the Creative Crafts Show in Belfast.
Sewing, card making, beads, cross stitch - everything was covered!
I said those famous last words:
" I'm not buying any fabric!"
Well of course, you know the story too well!
I did end up buying a little, teeny bit of fabric.
This was another purchase I made:
Oh I'm not crazy, it was not a spur of the moment decision.
I had been considering this for some time.
In fact, ever since the Festival of Quilts last August in Birmingham,
I had a hankering for this machine.
It arrived on Monday, and I very quickly removed it of it's packaging and got it plugged in.
Ignoring the Instruction Book, as you do :)
It was easy to get threaded and bobbin winding was not a problem.
I even managed to sew some of the 600 odd stitches
that are programmed in to the machine!
Next on my list is free machine quilting....
I think I'll have to go back to the instruction booklet..
just to make sure I'm following the right steps!
I'll let you know how I get on.
There's a Titanic wall hanging waiting to be quilted :)
What sort of machine do you sew on?

Titanic

Living in Ireland, I'm sure it couldn't have escaped anybody's notice,
that this weekend is the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic.
There has been so much on t.v. and radio about it, and also all the
anniversary commemorations planned for this weekend.
There is a fascination with the Titanic tragedy that doesn't seem to dim.
Built in Belfast, it was the luxury liner of the day,
yet there were so many people on board from all classes of society.
The best suite of rooms on board Titanic cost an amazing £60 000 in today's money.
Last year we visited the Ulster Folk and Transport's 'Titanica' exhibition in Belfast.
This year we are looking forward to visiting the new Titanic exhibition centre,
just adjacent to where RMS Titanic was built in Belfast.
I am not a 'Titanorak', but I did want to make something
'Titanic' related to mark the 100th anniversary.
This is a work in progress, which I began by making the shape of the bow of Titanic.
I have so much still to do - at one point I thought it looked more like a giant
odd shaped pint of Guinness!
Once I get the ships railings in place and some quilting done,
I hope it will resemble this:
So what do you think so far?
Titanic or Guinness?!
